A peek

While grocery shopping today I had an interesting experience. I heard a kid screaming (sounded something like a tantrum) behind the rack I was looking into. I could also hear the mother very calmly asking,"Do you want some more?" The kid burst into another teary scream and said,"Nooo..." I had a passing thought while continuing shopping - maybe, the kid doesnt want to eat anymore, when I turned to the other side(not to peek, just to shop - I am past the stage when a kid's tantrum catches my attention!) and found the flustered mother showing a fist to the kid and still very calmly saying,"Do you want some more?" - she turned away as soon as I came into her visibility zone.

If I was not a mother, I would have thought that inhuman. But being a mother, it reminded me of what one great lady had told me,"All mothers are humans, we all have our limits...." I found myself embarassed to sympathise not only with the kid but also with the mother.

Scaling new heights

Arunav and his friend having some monkey fun.
Today Arunav asked me,"Mummum, when monkeys eat banana do they peel it?" I said, "Yes." His next question was,"Who showed them?"

Bumps to Babes

The little baby I held in my hand not so long back is now flying! Time goes so fast, I wish I could live every moment to the fullest.

Being a Mother

How do the world look at mothers?

1. An old college pal, was very impressed by my achievements in school, university and the fact I worked in a good company in Tokyo and wanted to network with me. When I updated him, I am not working any more and staying at home to take care of my kids - the emails stopped and gather much of the admiration.

2. Today another old school pal said something very interesting to me," What will all your REC and IIMB profs say when they hear you are not working anymore - they took so much pain to teach you!"

Those words made me feel as if I "should be" guilty - I was taught under the obligation I will keep working for the multitude. Yes, it hurts when people think that way and tell you so. But it still doesnt make me feel guilty, for I know what I am doing is invaluable. I have proved myself to myself - sometimes the image in the mirror encourages me through these words which hurt so.

Mother's Day Episode

I really liked the Mother's Day necklace Arunav made for me. This is what he had to say,"Did you see mummum, I have put so many beads - at first I was putting small ones, but then I put big beads - so manny - do you like them? There is also a bracelet like this but it is a surprise for later." :)
In the evening he wouldn't eat (as usual), and we had a fight, I told him - "you dont listen to me, I dont want your necklace(Shyam burst out laughing at this)." Then when we made up I wore it again, so he looked and said,"You will wear it mummum? - you like it." So much for all the lectures on 'no threats and bribes'!

Treasure Hunting in the Pool

Arunav was looking for Treasure in the Pool and did not realize he could already swim without any aid. The video just missed capturing his shriek when he spotted the Treasure at the pool floor.

Butterfly Farm

Arunav holding a caterpillar in his palm and wearing a T-shirt he printed for himself (it's supposed to be a butterfly). He loved the field trip to butterfly farm - though he told me later it should be called a "Caterpillar Farm" :) It's true the kids saw more caterpillars than butterflies. But it was a change all of them loved....

Aarushi and her first words

Like Arunav, Aarushi's first words are also "Bow wow" - everytime she sees a dog :) She also says 'ca' for car, 'ba' for bus and a few other things. She is learning all the boyish stuff from Arunav - cars, guns, sword, soccerball. My friends tell me not to worry - it seems it will only take a few months in school before she is craving for "Pink" and "Princess" :))
