"Who put salt in here?"

Today is Mid-Autumn festival holiday in HK and I took Arunav to Repulse Bay beach. It was a beautiful bright sunny day and Arunav just jumped into the water. After swaying around for a while a wave washed Arunav flat into the beach. As the water went into his mouth, he looked up at me bewildered and the first words that came out was, "Mummum, who put salt in here?" It was asked with such genuine curiosity and wonder that it touched everyone around and there was a round of applause :)

Receding Rivalry (temporary relief??)

Yesterday Arunav gave a hug (much too tight) to Aarushi and said "I love you". It was such a pleasant change from the erstwhile hitting, pushing, 'no-toys-for-Aarushi' attitude that just the moment felt beautiful - even though toys still pose a hindrance to the budding friendship :)

Aarushi's annaprasan(photo) was done by Arunav since I could not manage a "mama"(maternal uncle) for her.

Raising Great Kids

Arunav's new school Small World, was offering a course "Raising Great Kids". I missed the first session (just plain forgot about it) but attended the next one which was today. It is good in many ways but I loved something from today's lesson - it said "not only quality time but the quantity of time" spent with the kid matters very much. Being one of the many working mothers who gave up their jobs to look after kids, I often have doubts(specially on those frustrating days) whether I did right - it made me feel so much better to know that I did not give up my work for nothing and my spending time with them is making a difference.

I think the course is going to teach me lot of things.

Swiss returned punchline

I was putting photos in the album (of our Swiss tour) and writing captions. Arunav said," Mummum write quickly." When I explained that I was thinking, pat came the reply,"But mummum, it is so hard to think, it is so easy to write."
This is Arunav at Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe). It was snowing that day.

Arunav experienced snow in Tokyo, but was too small to really snow-play.
