When the little ones throw surprises

I must record this just so I remember how much Arunav surprised me. He was busy playing 'Bob the Builder' in cbeebies and I was reading a Jeffrey Archer. He finished one game and asked me to tell him the score - just to shake him off(oops) I said, "what do you think?" (I was absent-minded and deep into the book). Arunav said, "81." That made me stop reading - for I have never spoken to him any number beyond 30. I was pleasantly surprised and told him - wow that's good - it seems you can read your numbers ...
I again peaked into my book and Arunav in his game - he then said,"Mummum now I have scored 83." I nodded without looking at him and said,"Good - which is more - 81 or 83?" He was silent for a while and said," 83?" - he had a question mark in his tone - I told him he is right and completely without thinking asked him," By how much is 83 more than 81?" There was a long silence and I rephrased," How much do you need to add to 81 to make it 83?"

That was when he gave his bolt from the blue - he said." 1 and 2 - I can put 2 more and make 83." - he had two of his little fingers up. I had to stop reading my book then - I was so surprised. I have never spoken ever in these lines and they are no where near discussing such stuff in school(he is 3.5 yrs!!). I felt very tempted to explore a bit more - but decided not to tamper with natural behaviour and left it at that. I cant wait to know more of what lies beneath :)

Nyaramundi_Mundan

Right after the party, Aarushi's hair was shaved off. She was amazing - did not cry even when the machine whirred right behind her ear. She only hated the bath right after that :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AARUSHI/ 24 FEB 2008

She started walking at 10 months. Has 4 teeth now. Cannot talk. Can squat. Can show everything in "Brown Bear Brown Bear" - doesnt like the 'white dog'. Can show 'dada', 'papa', 'Aarushi', 'head', 'nose', 'hands', toes, hair, ears - dances with music..... She screamed when she saw a dog in Bali - she tries to walk out of her bed !!
When the cake cutting was about to happen - Arunav was immediately blowing the candle, when the clown suggested 'let Aarushi try'. Arunav's defiant answer was,'But I am the brother!' :)

Who cares about growing up?

In my last post I was thinking of how fast the kids grow up and though it's a good thing, at the same time I start missing the innocence.... this happened the same day I was musing about such stuff :)
Arunav wants to sit in the highchair of Aarushi and eat.....Aarushi comes as fast as she can to push him out of it!

Hot Rooibos tea and Babyccino

Arunav and I just had a simple outing together. Arunav enjoyed some wholemeal Apricot Danish and Babyccino, while I tasted my first Rooibos(pronounced Roy-Boss). It was so blissful - both of us enjoyed the time. We did not have to please anyone, we were not in a hurry, I hardly had to say,"Arunav chew.", and surprisingly Arunav was enjoying observing others in the coffee shop...
Today was relatively warm in HK. I liked to see the 'non-jacketed' people for a change.

Arunav has learnt not to point to people - today he sat in the coffee shop and said,"Mummum she is speaking Mandarin." and he did not have his index finger jutting out straight at the person, he only had his head slightly bent and his eyes desperately trying to fix itself in the right direction :)
Do I want him to grow up and yet do I not?

Hide 'n Seek and Aarushi's love of music

These are the two loves of Aarushi - music and hide-n-seek.
