D-Day: Weaning+Bottlefeed

I wanna record today as the day when Arunav seriously picked up bottle. He is now 9 months old and did not take formula at all - only solids and breastmilk with the latter predominating. It had become a big hurdle for us bcoz we could not keep him with anyone - me/mommy has to be there for breastfeeding. Also the frequency of feeding being high, I was having to wake up 4 to 5 times at night and am now a skeleton-look-alike!

When he started daycare, I gradually increased the time between feeds - till it reached sometimes 4-5 hours. That sort of automatically reduced my milk supply and Arunav started fretting for more - today he grew up! He realised the bottle is giving him what he needs, what he is fretting for - and yippie he has started drinking as if he never drank from anything else. Touchwood!!

Forewarned: Never order through Dikshagifts.com

Normally I dont like posting a negative comment about any site - but this one warrants one. I ordered through the website www.dikshagifts.com a cake for my sister-in-law's son. The cake never got delivered(not till date - which is 5 days already too late from the desired delivery date) and I got charged. When I mail to the contact email given - all the mails keep bouncing.....I found it pre-posterous! This is just a warning note for anyone going through this piece.

DayCare

So far this has been my experience with Daycare:

1. Discipline is better. e.g. Arunav's appetite has improved which is primarily due to fixed timings and no morsels in between. At home I did not realize that I was getting pressurized by my in-laws who kept telling me I am not feeding him enough and he looks "not-chubby" - which led to my feeding him tidbits in between and for a baby even few bits are enough to spoil his healthy appetite.

2. Arunav is now down with a really bad cold. This is I think an inevitable fallout of daycare with so many babies and quite a few of them with running nose. If it is restricted to only cold - still better.

3. Demand for attention goes up. Nowadays Arunav shouts for even small things he wants - earlier it was just a mild whimper. My guess is because of the relatively lesser attention he gets at daycare - he thinks only shouting will help him get the required attention in time.

These have been my observations so far....more later.

Unscrupulous

that's what my little one is when he is eyeing a target - here the victim is his poor sleeping papa - he coolly climbed on top of his head in an attempt to reach for things on the sofa. Posted by Hello

Touch of Mother Earth

Posted by Hello Saturday we went to Arisugawa Park - it was fun watching Arunav experience his first touch with Mother Earth. In India it is no big deal - the touch with earth - here we need to make an effort. He was mesmerized for a while - he touched the ground and just sat there still for quite sometime. We were expecting him to immediately crawl around to explore his new environment - nope - he just sat there - after a while he started plucking at the grass tufts and only after around 20 odd minutes he started enjoying the newness. Shyam and I played badminton in the warm sun and had a gala time.

Look ma - no hands

Chinku da's chimp is my favourite meal

Arunav is really violent with this chimp - he just loves to attack him head-on and then chew its nose/face - poke its eyes and the gets wildly happy after doing whatever damage is possible at his age!

Mommyhood is not for the chicken hearted

Daycare has started for Arunav..... it is heart-wrenching to watch him crying profusely when I am not to be seen. Today was his second day and he was desperately looking around - crying bitterly all the while. I was just outside and hating it but I know he has to get used to it.... only after around 10 minutes the lady brought him to me and he just would not leave me after that.... I felt so awful looking at his helpless terrified face. I am asking myself "What price?"
